Description of Position Requirements and Responsibilities

Office of Alumni Affairs

 

General Overview:

The overall goal of the position is to provide consistent and effective “on-the- ground” support and leadership to the alumni program in the important hub of New York City. 

The Field Officer will also foster formal and informal connections that introduce potential donors, or visiting supporters, to current alumni artistic projects—making the connection between the “product” that UNCSA develops for the performing arts milieu, and the importance of becoming more involved in charitable giving to UNCSA. 

The Field Officer helps to increase the profile and understanding of the important role UNCSA plays in the arts organizations and institutions of one of the nation’s greatest cultural cities, New York.

Specific Duties:

  • Develop annual plan for connecting with and supporting the alumni hubs, and establish goals for the year.  This includes metrics set up between Alumni Office and representative for dollars raised, increasing the average gift amount, and increasing the number of active participating alumni.
  • Create calendar with timelines for each project established in the annual plan.
  • Ensure each project has a lead with agreed on accountability for deadlines.
  • Schedule and preside over meetings with volunteers.
  • Assign responsibilities for individual duties or events and follow-up on progress.
  • Serves as chief ambassador of UNCSA to alumni and local community—fostering connections between local arts supporters/patrons and the careers of UNCSA alumni.
  • Serves as primary contact for local alumni.
  • Ensure as much equality in communication and representation of alumni from every school as possible.
  • Active Participation in meetings of Alumni hubs or in other UNCSA affiliated meetings or visits.
  • Provide support, leadership and direction to the New York Alumni Hub.

 

Communication:

  • Maintain regular contact with UNCSA Director of Alumni Affairs.
  • Ensure timely submission of pertinent chapter news, activities and projects to UNCSA Alumni Office.
  • Maintain regular communication with officers and committees and set meetings.

Administrative:

  • Ensure chapter publicity, activity reports, communication and photographs are submitted by appropriate lead in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the Alumni Hub President's notebook, recording all pertinent information for successor.
  • Support Alumni Chapter events and programs throughout the year.

Term:

  • 1-2 year term, with review after second year by Director of Alumni Affairs. 
  • 1-2 term limit, unless otherwise deemed by the Director of Alumni Affairs, Director of Development, and Chief Advancement Officer

Time: 

  • 10-15 hours per week with greater commitment surrounding events.
  • Meetings (either in-person or by phone) with UNCSA Advancement Staff (Alumni Director) as scheduled or needed
  • At least one Board of Trustee meeting per year.
  • Regular (weekly) communication with UNCSA Alumni Director.

Position Requirements:

  • Alumna/Alumnus of UNCSA.
  • A positive representative of UNCSA Alumni and UNCSA as a whole, able to represent the School’s recent achievements and history with enthusiasm and pride.
